Things I love (first project)Selfie Artist Statement
What I Love in Life.
The overall message I am trying to convey with my image is my love for music, nature, and my family. My first layer is the lighthouse. The lighthouse represents the wonderful experiences I had on vacations with my family at Mackinaw Island. The second layer is the pink flower which symbolizes my love for gardening and enjoying the wondrous things around me. I appreciate nature very much and find it extremely beautiful. My third and last layer, was the earphones. I love listening to music and singing. Music is a huge part in my life that I thoroughly enjoy. When placing my photos on Photoshop I made the lighthouse appear over my face with a opacity of 59%, I did this because I wanted to emphasize how much my family means to me, and the impact that they have made into making the person I've become. The 59% opacity seemed just like the correct amount to place over my selfie because the viewer is able to recognize both and get a sense that the lighthouse is apart of me. In the background, I made the flower have a 98% fill because I wanted the colors to pop out more, rather that the earphones which are at 87% opacity and 83% fill. Overall, I wanted the viewer to be able to recognize these items and get the impression that all of these things impact me. These images represent some of the things that I love in life and make me the unique individual that I am. |
Fallish Dreams (second project)Double Exposure Artist Statement
When I first started digital photography in September, the selfie on the left was my first project. On the right is my last project in digital photography. When I view these two photos, the left one seems much busier (it has 5 layers) than the right one ( 2 layers) . The right photo seems more mature and enhanced than the right one. The right is more bold and harsh than compared to the left which is more light and delicate. I like how I ended with a improved selfie than compared to the start. Even though the left had more layers and it's understandable why it would be more chaotic, it's too strict looking for my tastes. The new and improved selfie is much more simple but far more striking than the latter.
